Camp UBU is more than a summer camp—it’s a community where Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing campers are seen, understood, and celebrated for exactly who they are. You Be You.

June 28 - July 3, 2026

Zumbro Falls, Minnesota

At Camp UBU, families can feel confident knowing their child is in a safe, supportive, and welcomed. Campers are surrounded by peers who share similar experiences and by Deaf and Hard of Hearing role models who truly understand them. Communication access is prioritized, allowing campers to relax, connect naturally, and fully participate without barriers.
Camp UBU is a place where children build confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships while being encouraged to be exactly who they are. Through shared experiences, outdoor adventures, and meaningful connections, campers leave with a stronger sense of self and belonging. At Camp UBU, your child isn’t asked to fit in—they are supported to You Be You.

Life @ Camp UBU

Life at Camp UBU is designed to feel safe,  connected, and fun—a place where campers quickly feel at home.

Campers stay in modern, clean, air-conditioned cabins and are grouped in close grade levels. With a small of about 6:1 staff-to-camper ratio, every camper receives close supervision, strong support, and individualized attention.

Connection happens naturally. Campers bond quickly with peers who share similar experiences, while staff foster inclusive, barrier-free communication throughout the day.

We eat all meals together, and our experienced kitchen team provides nutritious meals, carefully accommodating food allergies and sensitivities. We also have our Registered Nurse, Sara who is Hard of Hearing with us for the entire week ensuring the wellness of our campers.

Each day is full of adventure and balance—active fun, plenty of water and shade, and a calming quiet hour after lunch to rest, create, or recharge. Evenings bring favorite camp moments like games, campfires, storytelling, and s’mores, followed by bedtime routines that support comfort and hygiene. Homesickness can happen, and when it does, our trained staff provide patient, caring support.

At Camp UBU, campers don’t just attend camp -- they find confidence, lifelong friendships, and a place where they truly belong.

Adventures @ Camp UBU

Camp wouldn’t be camp without fun! At Camp UBU, campers enjoy a wide variety of activities designed to keep them engaged, active, and excited while building confidence and encouraging them to try new things.

Campers are supported as they challenge themselves, cheer each other on, and celebrate both successes and brave attempts.

Each morning, campers participate in small group rotations with peers close in age. These sessions focus on team-building activities, guided discussions, and advocacy skills, giving campers space to talk about Deaf and Hard of Hearing life experiences in a supportive, accessible environment. These moments help campers build confidence, self-awareness, and strong connections with one another.

All activities are led by trained staff, and camper safety is always our top priority. We offer a dynamic mix of outdoor adventure, team challenges, and creative fun, including:

Canoeing, zip line, high and low ropes, challenge courses, mini golf, black hole karting, archery, climbing walls, indoor gym time, basketball, volleyball, river tubing, swimming, riverside picnics, hiking, tomahawk throwing, and so much more!

Evenings at Camp UBU are always a highlight. Our staff plan ever-fun evening activities that campers look forward to all day—such as silly counselor contests, capture the flag, Fear Factor, Science Night with Dr. Dan (a Deaf scientist), and whatever creative ideas the Camp UBU 2026 staff dream up! These shared experiences bring laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.

Every activity at Camp UBU is an opportunity for connection, confidence, and fun—encouraging campers to explore, support one another, and truly You Be You.
